A-Plan New Vehicle Purchase Program Overview

A-Plan By Volvo Program

The “A-Plan by Volvo” purchase program is a benefit provided by Volvo Car USA, LLC to eligible individuals to purchase or lease new Volvo products at no hassle pre-negotiated discount prices. The same price Volvo employees pay.

There are over 3000 eligible companies in the A-Plan program with participation increasing every year. Eligible groups include full-time Volvo Dealer employees and registered Corporate Partners of Volvo Car USA. The program is solely intended for the personal use of eligible purchasers only. This offer is in addition to all the current incentives when purchasing or leasing a new Volvo through the A-Plan program.

Volvo Car USA reserves the right to modify or discontinue the A-Plan by Volvo program in whole, or in part, at any time without notice. The A-Plan by Volvo program is currently available in the United States only.

A-Plan By Volvo Program Customer Eligibility

Corporate Employees

The A-Plan by Volvo Corporate Partner program is offered to active employees of selected US and Canadian business partners, fleet partners, and special organizations, all having a unique relationship with Volvo. Additional purchase eligibility will be extended to eligible employee’s spouses and members of their immediate households only.

Through the A-Plan by Volvo Corporate Partner portion of the program, eligible individuals can generate up to two (2) personal identification numbers (PINs) per year that may be used to purchase or lease new vehicles. Eligible users should register and login to learn more about the program, including vehicle information, plan pricing, and to generate a PIN certificate. Eligible users will need to contact their Human Resources Administrator, in order to acquire the appropriate “Partner Code”, which is required to access the site.

Volvo Cars Dealer Employees

An eligible active Volvo Cars Dealer employee as noted below may sponsor up to two (2) PINs per calendar year, to be used towards the purchase or lease of a new vehicle.

  • Dealership employees, and their immediate household family members only. (Immediate Household is defined as residing at the same address as the PIN Sponsor)
  • Employees must be employed at least 3 months, and be currently listed in Dealer Master, at their Volvo retail facility.
  • Dealership employees may not act as a broker, by requesting a PIN for a customer.
  • Dealerships, or anyone connected with or acting on behalf of the dealership, cannot purchase or solicit PINs.

The Dealer may charge the customer any price negotiated (at or above cost) for accessories, dealer installed options, extended service contracts, and other items or services, that add value to the vehicle, provided such items are priced separately, and listed individually on the retail buyer’s order and the A-Plan by Volvo Pricing Agreement.

Volvo Dealers will notify the customer as soon as the vehicle has been prepared for delivery. A-Plan by Volvo customers must accept delivery and make final settlement within five working days of notification by the Dealer that the vehicle is available for delivery. Unless otherwise agreed to by the Dealer and the A-Plan by Volvo customer, vehicle disposition becomes the sole responsibility of the delivering dealership on the sixth day.

What is a PIN?

A PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a unique code required for each vehicle purchase under the A-Plan by Volvo program. This PIN will be generated by the qualifying member (sponsor) for either themselves or an eligible family member. When generating a PIN you will be able to download the certificate. The PIN certificate must be presented to an authorized and participating Volvo Car USA retail facility, in order to secure the A-Plan by Volvo pricing.

Pin Generation

First, eligible A-Plan members need to register on the website using their company’s partner code. Second, PINs may be generated for oneself or an eligible immediate family member, by selecting “Generate a PIN” link from the home page, or clicking on the “PINs” tab.

NOTE: A PIN must be generated before the date of sale to qualify. If there is a technical problem generating a PIN on the website, please contact Customer Service at (877) 702-2234.

When generating a PIN for oneself or immediate household family members, sponsor will need to enter the following information into the A-Plan by Volvo Web Portal:

  • Buyer’s name
  • Buyer’s address
  • Buyer’s telephone number
  • Buyer’s email address
  • Sponsors will be asked to verify the eligible family member’s relationship.
  • Identify a vehicle of interest
  • Identify an expected timeframe for purchase

Please ensure that the name/address provided for PIN generation is accurate and verifiable, using appropriate personal identification (i.e. driver license). The Volvo retailer will require the name/address on the PIN certificate to match the name/ address of the purchaser identified on the sales transaction.

Corporate Partner PINs may only be generated by qualified employees of the company, by inputting the company’s Corporate Partner Code. For companies with an existing Commercial Fleet relationship with Volvo the company’s A-Plan Partner Code will be the same as their Volvo Fleet Identification number (FIN). Dealer employees use their retailer/dealer code as the partner code to register with Upon acceptance of the partner code, the employee of the company may generate the PIN. The retailer will validate eligibility at the time of sale (See proof of eligibility guidelines)

The PIN must not, under any circumstances, be provided to any other person, except the Volvo retailer, at the time of purchase or lease. Providing a PIN to any other person is a violation of the A-Plan by Volvo Terms & Conditions.

Sharing a Company’s Partner Code with people who do not work for the eligible partner company is a direct violation of the program guidelines and may result in disqualification from the program.

Proof Of Eligibility Guidelines

Plan Participants are required to provide their Retailer proof of eligibility documents at the time of sale. These documents will substantiate that the PIN sponsor and purchaser are eligible for the program. Below is a list of the required documents for program eligibility.

Please note that all documents below are required for program participation:

  1. Volvo Car USA Employees, Retirees, and Family members: Copy of PIN certificate and a copy of purchaser’s driver’s license.
  2. Volvo Car USA Retailer employees and family members in their immediate household: Copy of PIN certificate, copy of sponsor’s prior year’s W2 or copy of sponsor’s paystub or sponsor’s ID Badge, and copy of sponsor’s driver’s license,
  3. Corporate Partner employees and family members in their immediate household: Copy of PIN certificate, copy of sponsor’s prior year’s W2 or copy of sponsor’s paystub or sponsor’s ID Badge and copy of sponsor’s driver’s license.
How Does A Qualified A-plan By Volvo Participant Purchase The Vehicle?

Eligible purchasers should follow the following guidelines when purchasing their vehicle:

  • Proceed to a participating Volvo retailer as identified on the A-Plan website.
  • Identify yourself to the retailer as A-Plan by Volvo eligible.
  • Provide the Retailer a copy of the PIN Certificate.
  • Provide copies of the other proof of eligibility documentation as outlined in the “Proof of Eligibility” section of this document.
  • If the buyer is a sponsored participant, they must specify the relationship that exists with sponsor.
  • Request a copy of the vehicle invoice, which indicates the A-Plan by Volvo price at the lower left corner of the invoice. This is always the correct A-Plan by Volvo price.
  • The retailer will complete and ask you to sign the A Plan by Volvo Pricing Agreement. After you have signed it, the retailer will provide you with a copy. This is your assurance that the price charged is the correct price. Do not sign this form if it is blank, or if you do not understand how the price was calculated. All added items must be documented on this form, including negative equity on trade, retailer-installed equipment, and gifts. If you have any questions or concerns about the terms of your purchase or lease, ask your retailer for clarification before completing the transaction.
Pricing & Incentives

The Volvo retailer is required to provide customers with a true copy of the factory invoice, indicating the A-Plan Volvo program price on the bottom of the manufacturer’s printed invoice. The A-Plan listed on the bottom of the invoice includes the invoice price of the vehicle and option packages, destination charge, and supplemental advertising, if applicable. In the event that the retailer does not have an invoice with the A-Plan prices pre-printed, the consumer may validate the purchase price on the website under vehicle pricing. Customers should also receive a completed and signed A-Plan pricing agreement, showing each item and its price. Do not sign the form if it is blank, or if you do not understand how the price was calculated. All added items must be documented on this form, including negative equity on trade, retailer-installed equipment and gifts.

Trade-in Allowance

The trade-in allowance is not covered by the new vehicle purchase program and must be negotiated with the retailer. Please note that the trade-in allowance must be documented on the A-Plan Plus by Volvo Pricing Agreement form.

  • Vehicle eligibility is based upon purchase date of the vehicle, not on the PIN generation date.
  • Pre-owned vehicles are not eligible for this program.
  • Retired Service Loaners are not eligible for this program.
  • Retailer Demonstrators are not eligible for this program.
  • Volvo Overseas Delivery not eligible for this program.
Program Policies

Customer/Sponsor Obligations and Rules

A PIN Sponsor is defined as the eligible A-Plan participant. Sponsors may purchase the vehicle themselves or generate PIN numbers for eligible immediate family members. Sponsors are responsible for managing their PIN allocation, and helping to ensure that customers follow the rules. If a customer fails to follow the rules, (including the length of ownership requirement) the sponsor’s plan eligibility may be at risk. Vehicles purchased or leased by customers sponsored by an employee, retiree, or surviving spouse, will count against the total number of vehicles that may be sponsored during a given calendar year. If after ordering a vehicle under the terms of the new vehicle purchase program, the customer cannot take delivery from the designated Volvo Dealer, the customer must promptly advise a sales representative.

Dealership Obligations and Rules

Participating Volvo Dealers agree to comply with all of the terms outlined under this A-Plan by Volvo program. Authorized Volvo Dealers are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the A Plan by Volvo program. All customers will receive an A-Plan by Volvo “Pricing Agreement” which will identify the A-Plan purchase price, the price of each dealer-added option, any negative equity on the trade-in unit, gifts, and any other allowable fees and taxes. A copy of the factory invoice, showing the vehicle purchase program price will also be provided. The A-Plan by Volvo Pricing Agreement must be signed by the Dealer and the customer, and a copy provided to the customer.

Referral Fees

A-Plan by Volvo sponsors may not accept referral fees, under any circumstances.

Document Fees

Volvo Dealers will be permitted to charge up to $100.00 in documentary fees, on each delivery to an eligible purchaser, under the terms of the A-Plan by Volvo program unless otherwise prohibited by state and local laws, or statutory regulations. Each Dealer is responsible for complying with their respective applicable laws or regulations.

Financing, Insurance, Titles and Taxes

Purchase/lease financing may be obtained at the customer’s discretion from any source. Each vehicle purchased or leased, will be covered by the same warranty as those sold to retail customers. The customer is responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes, license and title fees. Non-eligible family members may appear as co-signers or co-makers of the loan or other financing agreement, and may also appear as co-owners on the Vehicle Title or Registration. However, the primary user of the vehicle must be the A-Plan eligible member. A-Plan program customers are required to provide their own liability and collision insurance for both purchases and leases.

Titling eligibility is as follows

Vehicles must be retained in the customer’s possession and registered as provided above for at least six months from the date of purchase or lease.


Vehicles must be registered or titled to the A-Plan eligible individual. Non-eligible members may appear as co-signers or co-makers of the loan or other financing agreement, and may also appear on the Vehicle Title or Registration. However, the primary user of the vehicle must be the A-Plan by Volvo eligible member. Vehicles also may be registered in the name of a customer’s trust provided that the customer’s name is included in the name of the trust, i.e. “John Smith Trust.”


A-Plan vehicles may be registered or titled in the name of a business (excluding automotive dealerships and their leasing companies). A-Plan vehicles may be purchased or leased for commercial use.

Process and Documentation

Sales and Delivery Requirements

The dealership may require the A-Plan customer to make a deposit when placing a vehicle order. Some or all of this deposit may be retained by the dealership, if the customer declines to accept delivery of the product as ordered. An agreement in writing should be reached with the Volvo Dealer, concerning the amount of the deposit, and the conditions under which it may be retained by the dealership if the transaction is not completed.

Lease transactions may require a refundable security deposit. The security deposit is held until the end of the lease and is refunded, provided that the lease terms have been satisfied.
